Student Discipline
A. Behavioral Standards
"Each student entering one of our schools should place himself under
discipline. Those who refuse to obey regulations should return to their
homes." Ed. 256. The foremost objective of the Academy is the development of
a sound moral character. The methods and procedures of discipline as
employed at AUPA are only means of realizing this goal.
Propriety and Orderliness
1. When in a group, students shall observe orderliness while entering or leaving their classroom, the chapel or any other place of gathering.
2. Students shall observe order and avoid unnecessary noise when going up or down the stairs, or when walking along the hallways or corridors especially during class hours.
3. Students shall promptly and quietly heed authorized school signals such as ringing of the bell and shall properly respond to the announcements of the school through its authorized representatives/.
4. Students shall be in their respective homes when classes are over. They are not allowed to loiter within the Academy premises and its vicinity after 6:00 o.clock p.m.
5. Students shall sit and behave properly during classes, the chapel period, Sabbath services, and other meetings. They are likewise expected to be attentive and responsive in the same.
6. Students shall not shout, whistle, boo, talk or laugh boisterously within or near the school premises, or otherwise disturb the environment intended for study.
7. Students shall not stage a demonstration, strike, or boycott, or engage in any activity which would interrupt or disrupt classes or other school functions.
8. Students shall avoid chewing gum within the school premises.
Respect to People and Property
1. Students shall give due respect to fellow students, to their teachers, school officials and guests.
2. Students shall show respect to the Philippine flag particularly during the flag ceremony.
3. Unless allowed by a teacher, no student shall get into teachers. room and go beyond the registrar.s counter.
4. Students shall use and handle with care the school chairs, tables and similar furniture, as well as other school property to include the piano, personal computer units and alike electronic equipment, and the garden and industrial tools.
5. Students shall not write on, tamper with or vandalized posters, announcements, charts, bulletin boards, displays, and other exhibits.
6. Students shall refrain from writing or signing their names on things that do not belong to them such as books, notebooks and other articles of clothing. Moreover, they shall not write on, deface, or destroy the school property particularly the chairs, benches, tables, walls and doors.
7. Students shall not alter or move the time as shown in the school wall clock.
8. Students shall refrain from teasing, name-calling, threathening, quarelling with, or gossiping about other people. They shall avoid using language or phrases that are profane or obscene, or those unbecoming of a Christian.
Honesty
1. Students shall not take anything that does not belong to them.
2. Students shall not alter or tamper with report cards, transcript of records, clearances, and other official documents for the purpose of misrepresenting themselves through any of these.
3. Students shall not resort to or commit any form of cheating especially when taking a quiz, test or examination. Talking with another, or possessing open notes or aids during any of these activities shall be considered cheating.
4. Students shall not falsify documents or sign in the place of a teacher, parent/guardian, or school official without the latter.s authority.
Boy-Girl Relationship
1. While wholesome friendly relationship is encourage in the Academy, students shall not engage in improper male-female relationship or conduct.
2. No student shall ride together with another student of the opposite sex in the same car or on the same motorbike alone by themselves.
3. No student shall stay or been together in pair with another student or the opposite sex alone by themselves anywhere in the school, particularly in isolated, unfrequented or dark places.
4. Students shall not engage in serious courtship while in the Academy.
Responsibility
1. Students shall faithfully attend their classes, the chapel periods, work education activities, retreats, social gatherings and other dully called-for school meetings.
2. Students shall be punctual in meeting all their appointments.
3. Students shall wear their school uniform and ID properly every school day.
4. Students shall avoid borrowing pens, paper, and alike supplies from other students for their quizzes, tests, and other school work.
5. Students shall take care of their own personal belongings especially money, watches, calculators and other things of value.
6. Students shall return immediately after use any borrowed items from the office or from any person.
7. Students shall not leave the school premises during class hours except when given permission by the teacher or any other school authority.
8. Students shall be punctual in submitting their assigned work.
9. Students shall follow the library, laboratory and other school rules and regulations, including lawful instructions of teachers at all times.
10. Students shall not use the name of the school for and in off-campus activities without prior permission of the AUPA officials.
11. Students shall not share, teach, disseminate, or engage in immoral, atheistic or infidel beliefs and practices, or those who which undetermined the philosophy and ideals of the school.
12. Students shall not organize clubs or societies without receiving proper approval of the school.
13. Students shall not possess, carry, or use deadly weapons, or any devices that are explosive or incendiary, within the school premises.
Temperance
1. Students shall follow health rules to maintain a healthy body and disposition, and to help them get and keep good grades.
2. Students shall not engage in excessive play during break-time or free period.
3. Students shall refrain from bringing to school any comic, movie, pornographic or otherwise immoral books, magazines, or reading materials. They shall likewise not bring to school the following: walkman cassette player or radio; toys, whether manual or electronic card games; CD.s and tapes containing rock or forbidden music; and other articles of unwholesome entertainment.
4. Students shall not engage or participate in any form of amusement or entertainment considered questionable the by school, which include ballroom dancing, going to the theaters or movie houses, the night clubs or discos, and playing pool, or billiard games.
5. Students are prohibited from smoking, drinking, or gambling, whether inside or outside the school premises.
6. Students shall not resort to first fights or to physical duels to settle personal differences or to vent a grievance.
7. Students shall not possess, use, or sell any dangerous.
Decency
1. Students shall be clean and appear decent and dignified in their attire. The school uniform shall be worn properly at all times of the school week.
2. Male students shall maintain a short and properly cut hair. No student shall have a shaved head or sport or colored hair.
3. Students shall not wear immodest clothes which undetermined the principles of modesty, decency, and simplicity. Female students shall not wear excessive cosmetics nor color their nails except for stage plays duly approved by the school when moderate use of make-up or nail polish is necessary for the performance.
4. Except for watches, students shall refrain from wearing jewelry such as rings, earrings, necklaces bracelets, anklets and the like.
5. Students shall be refined and decent in their language and avoid using vulgar or obscene words or phrases.
Classroom Routine
1. The first bell signals the end of the period. The second bell signals the start of the next.
2. All classes shall begin with a prayer.
3. The classroom door shall be closed 10 minutes after the second bell for the first period class and 5 minutes after the second bell for each of the succeeding classes. Anyone desiring to come inside after the door is closed should not force his/her way but shall wait for the teacher to decide on the matter.
4. Students shall avoid from litter and disorder in the classroom. Before leaving the room, students shall pick up waste, if any, and put back the chair in order. At the end of the school day, the assigned cleaners shall remain to further clean and arrange the room.
5. During recess which is a short period of time, students may relax, visit the comfort room, or attend to personal necessities, but not to play basketball or other games involving running on the court, on the field or around the building.
6. Upon the class dismissal, students shall leave quietly the room and walk up or down the stairs with restrained steps to prevent unwanted noise. Students shall not stay in the classrooms after classes are over, whether at noontime or in the afternoon, as the classroom doors shall be closed.
7. When the teacher is late for class, the students shall quietly remain in the seats and study their lesson. Meanwhile, the class president or any class officer shall inform the principal or any person in his office or the faculty room of the matter. In this case, the students may be required to participate in what is called a substitute activity.
8. When responding to teachers or other adults, students shall append their answer with the word .Sir. or .Ma.am., as the case may be. Students shall not address their teacher by his/her first name but by his/her family name preceded with a .Mr.,. .Mrs.. or Miss, as the case may be.
To be Confiscated:
The items listed below are the subject to confiscation by the school and may be claimed only by the parents concerned:
1. Deadly or blade weapons, including guns, explosive materials, firecrackers, incendiary and destructive instruments, and similar items.
2. Song hits, pornographic magazines and materials, comics, pocket fiction books, movie ads, rock music tapes and compact discs.
3. Transistor radios, or similar electronic gadgets. Musical instruments brought to school for practice purposes but not deposited in the proper office of the school without prior arrangement shall also be confiscated.
4. Basketballs, volleyballs, and other balls including P.E. equipment which are supposed to be deposited in the P.E. stockroom or proper office, but not so deposited.
5. Toys, games, or any plaything that distracts attention during class hours, including battery-operated toys, manual toys such as water guns, cards whether for play or as collection, cassette or video tapes, compact discs, cellphones, and those similar for the foregoing.
C. Attendance
1. Tardinesses
a. A student shall be marked tardy if he/she comes to class any time within
ten (10) minutes after the scheduled time for first period classes to begin.
For the rest of the classes meeting for a one-hour period, a student is
tardy if he/she comes any time within five minutes after the time the
classes are supposed to begin. After ten of five minutes mentioned above, as
the case may be, the classroom doors will be close and the tardy students
may be asked to proceed to the library and no other. No tardy student
should be loitering around, or staying at the bleachers or under the
trees.
b. Three tardinesses shall be equivalent to one absence.
c. Excessive or habitual tardinesses shall be sufficient ground for the
transfer to another school of the student concerned.
2. Absences
a. An absence is excused if it is due to sickness, injury, or
unavoidable circumstances, or if made with the prior permission of the
school.
c. Upon return for classes, a student shall bring his/her record book
signed by his/her parents and principal to be shown to the teacher before
being admitted to the class.
d. No makeup test shall be given to a student if his/her absence is
unexcused.
e. Accumulated absences of 20% or more of the total required number of
school days shall be a cause for the absent student to be automatically
dropped from the roster of enrolled students. No credit shall be given to
student in this case.
Regulations on Absences
1. The absence of a student shall be unexcused if he/she fails to present a medical certificate (in case of illness) or an excuse letter from the parent or guardian (in other cases) within three days of his/her return to the school.
2. The number of absences allowed per subject per grading period are:
a. 5 absences for a subject meeting 3 times a week (1 hour period)
b. 9 absences for a subject meeting 5 times a week (40-minute period)
c. 2 absences for a subject meeting once a week (regardless of number of minutes)
d. One absence in any .double period. class will be counted as 2 absences.
3. For a particular grading period, when a student accumulates absences beyond the number allowed for that period, he/she shall automatically receive a failing grade in that subject.
4. In case of long, continued absence due to illness like Chiken Pox or German Measles, the absent student shall be allowed to make up subject to his/her presentation of the doctor.s certification and the proper permission from the Guidance Office. In this case, a grade shall be computed.
5. When a student is absent during the periodical examinations, he shall be required to present the doctor.s certificate or the excuse letter from his/her parent or guardian before he can be issued a permit from the proper office allowing his/her to take the missed examinations. He/She shall be given only three (3) to four (4) days to finish all the exams and other requirements.
6. If the absence during the periodical examinations is not excused, the student shall pay an amount of seventy pesos (P70.00) per exam missed in order to be allowed to take it.
7. An absence due to attending a funeral service of a close relative shall be excused if a letter from the family or guardian stating the foregoing as reason is presented.
8. In case of a missed quiz or test due to absence, the student concerned may apply for a make-up quiz or test if his/her absence is excused. Conversely, if his/her absence is unexcused, or is due a suspension, no make-up work shall be allowed.
9. Except in the case of prolonged illness, a special make-up examination or test shall be taken within the week immediately following the week when the missed examination or test was given.
10. The perfect of highest percentage in a make-up work is 95%. (Note: This figure is based on the 20% maximum absence allowed under the DECS policy.)
Flag Ceremony
Flag ceremony is conducted ten minutes before the class time every morning
except when the weather does not permit. The assigned leader shall call
.Mga Kamag-aral, Humanda!,. and everyone shall fall in line by homerooms.
This is followed by the checking of attendance by the homeroom secretaries.
Prayer is said, and then the National Anthem is sung with each student
placing his/her right palm upon the left side of his/her chest. The
.Panunumpa sa Watawat. follows.
Uniforms (See illustrations)
1.
a. Boys: White polo shirt with the AUP logo sewn or printed on the left pocket, dark blue pants (not maong), and blackshoes.
b. Girls: Regular short-sleeved white blouse with baby collar, AUP logo sewn or printed on the upper left pocket, a dark blue ribbon underneath the collar, dark blue back-pleated skirt, black shoes, and white short socks.
c. Students shall wear the school uniformfrom Monday through Friday except during PE/CAT/Pathfinder days.
d. No student shall be accepted to class who is not in uniform unless the student has proper permission from the Principal or his representative upon prior arrangement by the student concerned or his/her parents. The wearing of the school uniform shall be fully inforced one (1) week after the opening of classes for old students, and two (2) weeks for new students.
e. On days when the student is not required to wear the school uniform or the required attire (see letter c above.)
2. P.E. Uniform
Prescribed jogging pants/PE T-shirt with logo and rubber shoes. (Students are advised to have an extra plain white T-shirt ready for change after P.E. classes).
3. CAT Uniform
Type A-full fatigue long sleeved shirt and pants.
Type B-prescribed plain white T-shirt without collar and fatigue pants.
The CAT uniform may be worn throughout the half portion of the day on which CAT class is scheduled.
4. Pathfinder Uniform
Type A-prescribed international uniform.
Type B-Type a skirt/pants and white T-shirt with school logo.
5. Band Uniform (to be prescribed)
Identification Card
1. The I.D. shall be worn at all times inside the campus. No student shall be allowed to enter his/her classes without his/her I.D. on.
2. Tampering, defacing or mutilating a school I.D., wearing another student.s I.D., or allowing another to use one.s I.D. are absolutely prohibited.
3. Lost I.D. shall be replace immediately after report of loss is made to the office. A temporary I.D. shall be issued and obtained from the said office until the replacement is available. Continual disobedience of the regulation on I.D. shall be dealt with more severe sanctions.
Rules for Use of I.D.
1. The I.D. is non-transferable.
2. The I.D. shall be worn properly using only the prescribed AUPA I.D. holder.
3. Tampering with I.D. such as pasting a sticker on the picture with another is prohibited.
